Celebrity Lawyer: Jennifer Jones

Jennifer Jones

Former world champion curler.

Born in Winnipeg, Canada in 1974, Jennifer Judith Jones first came to prominence when she won the Canadian provincial championships in 1993.

Later, in 2005, 2008 and 2009, the team she led won the annual Canadian women's curling tournament.

In 2008, she attended and won the Women's World Curling Championship, beating China in the final.

Jennifer JonesShe is also corporate counsel for Winnipeg branch of Wellington West Capital Holdings Inc., a privately-owned financial services firm.

Jones received her B.A. in 1996 and her LL.B. in 1999, both from the University of Manitoba.

From 1999 to 2005, she first articled with, then practised with Aikins MacAulay & Thorvaldson, a law firm based in Winnipeg.

In a 2008 interview she gave to her company's client magazine, she says that she travels with her work:

"I know what needs to get done and I can manage it. I have a laptop and a Blackberry. If I have to draft a contract, I’ll do it at night in my room. On days where we have two games, I’ll usually order room service (and work) while my team goes out for dinner."
