And why not use judicial figures on postage stamps!

These stamps are hotly collected by stamp collectors and range in original dates of issue of 1856 (1s.4d. Chancery Court); 1858 (1s. Probate Court); 1861 (Ireland Petty Sessions) and 1865 (Common Law Courts).

The variety of shapes and the use of letter values, as opposed to numerals, was unique.

Postage stamps only came out in England circa 1840.
