This 1659 painting by Rembrandt shows Moses holding the Commandments received from God on Mount Sinai, and poised to smash them as he is disappointed with the conduct of his people.

Rembrandt, or  Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, lived from 1606 to 1669.

Moses eventually succeeded in bringing down a set of Ten Commandments.
