Goods that are used or acquired for use primarily for personal, family or household purposes.

Ontario's Personal Property Security Act (2010) defines consumer goods as follows, at ยง1(1):

"[C]onsumer goods means goods that are used or acquired for use primarily for personal, family or household purposes."

Justice Holland of the Ontario Supreme Court (High Court of Justice) made this distinction:

"In this case the van was consumer goods, but if, for example, a taxi had been purchased, such would not fall within the definition of consumer goods under the Act."1
