Dance Hall Definition: A public hall devoted to dancing and for which admission is not based on personal selection or invitation. A legal definition of dance hall has been required to establish liability under various by-laws especially those related to zoning or taxation. A private dance studio maintained for the teaching of dance to children was held to not be a dance hall (Kinney).
