Disbursement Definition:

Miscellaneous expenses, other than lawyer fees and court costs (i.e. filing fees), which are paid on behalf of another person, and for which reimbursement will eventually be demanded of that person.

In a personal liability case, for example, typical disbursements might be expert medical reports, private investigator reports, photocopying and courier costs and the like.
