Machine Gun Definition:

A firearm which can shoot more than one shot without having to be reloaded and by single function of the trigger.

The 2011 version of the Title 26 of the United States Code, at §5845(b) defines a machine gun as follows:

"The term machinegun means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger."
