Oversman Definition:

The Scottish law term for umpire.

In Scotland, an arbitrator is referred to as an arbiter and an umpire, an oversman.

An oversman has the same role and function as an umpire in the law of arbitration. It is he/she who may intervene when an even number of arbiters are deadlocked, and decide the award.
