Duhaime's Law Dictionary

Slut-Shaming Definition:

The judgment objectifying and passed on the sexuality of woman, often of teenage years, that her choice of revealing or tight apparel is indicative of consent if not encouragement to sexual intimacy.

An altrnate description of slut-shaming:

"Aplying derogatory words towards a person based on their behvior, sexual promiscuity, their clothing preferences, and or how many peo4ple they date."1

For an example, of judicial slut-shaming, see Judge Yeshaya's Judicial Monstrosity, cited below.

Even in Canada, the phenomena has not been eradicated from the Courtroom - see, for example the Canadian Judicial Council's public statement on Manitoba judge Robert Dewar in a 2011 case, R. v Rhodes. Warning: the alleged words of Justice Dewar are difficult to stomach:

"The complaints all arise from certain remarks made by the judge during the Rhodes matter. In finding Mr Rhodes guilty of sexual assault and in the subsequent sentencing portion of the trial, the judge said that "sex was in the air that night;" that the accused was "a clumsy Don Juan." He said that the victim was dressed in a way that showed she "wanted to party."

Society, youth in particular, will be looking for leadership on this potentially divisive issue. Compare the comments of Charles Miller i(reported by Andrews, Kate below) the (former)  "Editor-In-Chief of somthing calld the "Mises Institute in Canada" who apparently openly Advocated "Slut-Shaming" in the conservative American blog  "Townhall.com"published 2013-09-03, retrieved from the internet on 11 April 2014. The article was published by somewhat controversial and advocating slut shaming, was published by the conservative American website Townhall.com but what is interesting, (if not embarassing),  about it is that" the advocacy is attributed to  a Canadian.

The brilliant and refreshing video posted on YouTube, another Canadian, s Kanika Rae of Victoria, speaks both by land from the heart on this issue which is clearly one for which she has strong feelings, especially in regards to the related issue of school dress codes.
