In Frontenac, federal inmates were upset because their cable provided had blocked out the few porn movies that occasionally aired in the late hours of the evenings.
Justice Harrington of the Federal Court of Canada had before him a contract which required that:
"... any x-rated ... movies shall be blocked out from viewing."
He adopted this definition of x-rated:
"... indecent, pornographic (from X a film classification formerly applied to films suitable for adults only).... sexually explicit."
