A Horse Is a Horse Of Course

Poetic Justice logo

Eakin couldn't resist - these are the verse components of his reasons for judgment in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v Noel and Travis:

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed.

Go right to the source and ask the horse
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.
He's always on a steady course. Talk to Mr. Ed.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
but the Vehicle Code does not divorce
its application from, perforce,
a steed, as my colleagues said.

horse"It's not vague" I'll say until I'm hoarse,
And whether a car, a truck or horse
This law applies with equal force,
And I'd reverse instead.

Because I cannot agree this statute is vague or ambiguous,
I respectfully dissent.

Unless otherwise noted, this article was written by Lloyd Duhaime, Barrister, Solicitor, Attorney and Lawyer (and Notary Public!). It is not intended to be legal advice and you would be foolhardy to rely on it in respect to any specific situation you or an acquaintance may be facing. In addition, the law changes rapidly and sometimes with little notice so from time to time, an article may not be up to date. Therefore, this is merely legal information designed to educate the reader. If you have a real situation, this information will serve as a good springboard to get legal advice from a lawyer.
